Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Residential Painting FAQs

Bella’s Army Painting has been proudly serving the Pittsburgh area for 5 years now, although we bring over 7 years of professional experience to the table in the industry.

We are very selective in hiring our painters and administer a criminal background check for every painter. Most of our painters, especially our crew leaders, have been with us for years or have extensive management experience. I trust them in the homes of my own friends and relatives. We also administer personality tests to ensure your painters are detail oriented and love completing projects and going above and beyond to service the customer.

We make certain to remove all loose and flaking paint from all surfaces. Often, this is done by pressure washing or manually scraping. Sometimes, surfaces must be scuffed up, abraded, profiled, or even primed to guarantee adhesion. For speciality projects, such as cabinet refinishing, we use an extensive cleaning and degreasing process paired with a three stage SVT system (Sand, vac, and tack). That’s why we take our time where it counts – in the preparation.

We offer 1-5 year warranties that vary by job type and desired project scope. So, if you notice an issue – small or large – please call our office. We strive to create “customers for life,” so the fact is you can call us any time after your project has been completed! Warranty options are available for top-of-the-line projects.

We predominantly use Sherwin Williams paints; however we have accounts setup with PPG Paints and Benjamin Moore as well because we have a strong relationship with high quality brands that produce quality products. We source our cabinet paint from Clark Deco Moldings, a specialized supplier that sells industrial coating products meant to be more durable. This means if there is ever a manufacturing defect, we know that all our suppliers will stand behind our work – and your project. However, we do make exceptions when there are superior products in specific situations or if our customers have a strong product preference.

Absolutely! We make certain we protect our customers by carrying the appropriate coverages for general liability and workers compensation. Additionally, we are licensed by all local authorities and continually seek out industry recognized certifications and designations to add to our customer’s peace of mind.

Sure thing! In fact, during your in person consultation, your project consultant will provide three entire pages of recent references that are updated quarterly! Plus, we leave behind a “project book” for you to view while we are completing your project proposal on-site in our company vehicle.

We only take a small deposit to reserve you a spot in our schedule and a final payment at the end of the project when it is completed, and you are 100% happy! The only exceptions are when specialty products, such as epoxies or other items, are ordered directly from a manufacturer.

Our cabinet projects usually last anywhere from 10 to 15 years. We use high end application coating systems which promote great adhesion and excellent durability. If the extensive cleaning, degreasing, and SVT (Sand, vac, and tack)process wasn’t enough, we also use a solvent based prime coating that sticks to almost anything and grades higher on scratch resistance than most primers on the market. We also use Milesi products as finish applications, which is an industrial coating meant to withstand a higher durability rate and hold up better than most standard trim enamels on the market.

Longevity = mission accomplished.

Most of our customers have supplier preferences when it comes to product selections, so we work hard on outlining exact specifications according to requested project scopes.

Absolutely! We make certain we protect our customers by carrying the appropriate coverages of general liability insurance and workers compensation. On specialty projects, we do have higher coverages of general liability for project qualifications.

Sure thing! In fact, during your in-person consultation, your project consultant will provide three entire pages of recent references that get updated quarterly! Our references will range by project type, size, location, and complexity.

We can repair both large and small drywall areas, including entire sheet hanging and finishing. Our team also removes rotten wood or does small demo work, a complete preparation package before our team starts refinishing the paintable surfaces.

Our paint application technique differentiates based on project type and customer preference. We default to brush and roll, unless project specifications require a spray application for quicker application time or for a high end finish that only a sprayer can provide.

Once the agreement is authorized, the next step is to confirm colors and sheens for your project. Product is soon ordered thereafter, and you’ll be waiting on a call from your designated Project Manager once we are ready to mobilize a team.
